Martin isn't your average hero, and his family is far from average. Their story is extraordinary, but written so simply and skillfully that it seems quite normal. These are people who embrace a universe that is both mundane and amazing. Martin and his family travel on a long, winding journey through that universe.
They expect the very best from the world, and even in sad times, they are not disappointed.
I find myself walking with them, looking past my day to day existence into the wonders of Martin's universe.

I may be biased. I know the author and the setting and have deep affection for both. That said, I loved this book! I did little else while reading this delightful story. I really liked the character development. The author weaves extraordinary humor into his interesting plot twists and makes you care about his characters. I liked the book's unique exploration of various spiritual ideas - very relevent and timely. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

I found this wonderfully written, each chapter was a haiku story onto itself, and short enough to keep me wanting to read more and more each time I sat down to briefly read a little more! The descriptions were colorful and I was able to easily picture what the author was portraying. The explanation of Unity Teachings and much of New Thought was well explained and demystifying for those who may have been wary of this approach to Christianity. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. It is hard to tell that this was the author's first foray into writing a novel!

Surprise, I am a writer. I woke up one night on vacation and wrote the first notes of Martin on a motel scratch pad before the dream went wherever it is they go. The first whisperings of dozens of friends who introduced themselves in the next five years. I visited and chronicled their adventures.
